Facilities Services Weekly Update Meeting- Agenda

Attendance: Kevin T, Ray, Rose, Pat, Jessica, Ron, Loren, Kelli
1. Current Projects
a. Vangstad
i. 2/24 looked a foundation for new bearing walls in the hallways that go through
the center of the building. Will need to add more cement to get the foundation
we need.
ii. 116- Will not be moving the door (approved by Brenda Finger). Will save around
$8,000.
iii. Will need to remind contractors to stay off the sidewalks.
b. McCoy/Snoey Basketball Court
i. Will be meeting next month to finalize numbers. Would like project to be
completed this summer for the 125th celebration.
c. Field House Lower Level & Lobby (Spring Break)
i. Still waiting for a bid from one more contractor before we can put together
contracts. Will be making selection on Monday (3/2).
d. Student Center Upper Lounge
i. Contract received from Hepper Olson- need some clarification before we can
accept.
ii. Architect met with Kari and will be giving her design options by next week.
e. Back Alley
i. Kerry Peuser was here yesterday to look at the asphalt/electrical location. The
project will need to be finished over the summer.
ii. Will need to monitor when the temperatures are higher to clean out the
mud/slush.
iii. Future discussion: add a cover to protect the parking
f. President’s Office
i. Would like to have carpet installed next week. Pat is trying to arrange the
carpet installation just to get it done.
ii. Pat will contact Charlie’s to have them come Friday to stain the trim and door.
iii. Need to insulate pipes-Loren to measure and see what we need, what to do for
blinds- Pat will contact to have them measured
g. Hill slide Waterfall
i. No update.
2. Future Projects
a. Fine Arts Building
i. No update.
b. Heat Plant
i. RFQ- still waiting for response from NDUS.
ii. Architects will be coming in starting next week to meet with Ron.
c. Wellness Center
i. Doug met this morning and we voted to start the bid letting- will go out in the
next couple weeks. Bid opening by May 1st. (We will not be moving any of our
equipment until the bid opening and we know the project is going through).
ii. The force main will be done starting May 1st. (Ron will work with KLJ)
iii. Civil work will be done June 1st-July 1st.
iv. General contractor will begin work July 1st.
v. Greenhouse- will need to start working on finding a new location.
vi. Have Drew contact about potential to have West End purchase the cables and
credit our account.
3. Other Projects
a. Flood Wall
i. The Army Corp hasn’t approved the project yet.
ii. Swanberg is ready to move as soon as they get the approval.
iii. Or deficiency request has been approved by the Senate Appropriations
Committee- still need approval from House.
b. Track
i. Ron contacted Terracon yesterday and will have the report next week.
c. Field House Addition
i. Visited with Kerry Peuser about the project and potential code issues.
ii. Ron met with Mac and Jack to discuss potential office moves if this project goes
through. They will be meeting with a separate Athletics committee.
iii. Will need to come up with an alternate plan if we don’t receive the funding for
this addition. (Due to accreditation we will need to do some work in the Training
Room.)
d. Graichen Gym and Field House Floors
i. Ron received the bids for both floors. Still waiting to receive pictures of the
staining option (will last longer than painting).
1. Graichen- $14,000- more need than Field House
2. Field House- $23,927 (less than Anderson Lab proposal). Currently too
many coats of lacquer on the floor.
4. Events
a. Kelli talked to Chris Redfearn to plan out the rooms. Dr. Dahlberg will be canceling
classes that are held in McFarland.
5. Other
a. Building Supervisor Position
i. Waiting for review of salary range. Pat already sent the request to recruit. We
still have the goal of posting March 1st.
b. Theatre Storage
i. Waiting for written documentation from Fire Marshal. Need to come up with a
plan to clear out 411. Will need to price out storage solutions for the storage
unit.
ii. Doug will visit with Rick concerning the State Surplus side.
c. Service Fund
i. Will be requesting a service fund.
d. Survey for training
i. Jessica sent it out yesterday- please encourage people to take the survey so we
can get a pulse
ii. Also need requests for equipment/ tools sent to Ron by Friday (2/27).
e. Tuck pointing in front of McFarland
i. Pending budget approval- need to work on landscaping to get water away from
building. Bring ideas forward on how to do it to Ron.
f. Landscape Library
i. Use material that was planned for in front of McFarland to do the L-shape by the
library. Then there’s no need to store the material since we can’t do McFarland
landscaping at the time.
g. Medicine Wheel management
i. Looking to get more funding for student employees to help cover what needs to
be done.
h. Group concerns
i. Rose: Diane asked about the floor at the Field House
ii. Kevin: could use a better repeater for the radios
