Facilities Services Weekly Update Meeting
Attendance: Rick, Kelli, Fred, Kevin K, Pat, Daryl, Ron, Jessica, Drew, Kevin T

1. Current Projects
a. Vangstad
i. Thank you to all for cleaning in Vangstad before the ceremony- it went well and
had a good turnout.
ii. Ron is working with Allard on fixing the building sign.
iii. Midwest Mechanical will be out soon to start up the a/c unit (needs to have a
factory start-up the first time).
b. Wellness Center
i. Wesley is ok with the furniture choices
1. Place the order in mid-July.
2. Will need to look at blind options once they move in. Will hold the
remaining budget for this project.
c. Heat Plant
i. Working on the permit to start construction.
ii. The houses will be demoed starting the 16th of May.
d. Housing
i. Summer work order system- Jessica would like to create a system so that we
can communicate how work orders should be submitted (by room, by type,
etc.). If anyone has ideas on how to make that efficient please let her know.
1. Also would like to communicate that we should check on rooms RIGHT
after kids move out to catch any items that need fixing.
2. Have Rick go through with the BS person in each building and inspect
rooms
3. Pat talk to Steph about our new ideas and also to discuss RA checkout
processes
ii. Mythaler Head Start Card Access
1. Need to get cards for Drew, Kevin K, Daryl (Ron has 2, will get another
today)
iii. Snoey Steam
1. No update
e. Summer Projects
i. Student Center Upper Lounge
1. Will do ceiling tile lights and ramp after school is out.
ii. McF 2nd Floor Painting
1. No update
iii. Student Center Heat Coil & Water Tank
1. The heat coil contract was sent to Keith to sign.
2. Waiting on a price for the water tank. We have decided to purchase the
plasma cutter and will be removing the old tank ourselves.
iv. Circle Hall Interior
1. No update
f. McFarland Stabilization
i. We received a price for the stabilizing and it came back much less than
expected. We will still need to figure the price of the walls. Sandman will work
on bidding this project out.
g. McFarland Reconfiguration
i. Distance Ed (125) – Shannon has moved in but there may be furniture requests
in the future.
ii. New Offices (x2) (319) – Wesley will visit with Margaret and the faculty about
where we want to go with this.
iii. New Lounge (139) – On hold. Will look at disconnecting the water.
iv. Business Office File Room (127)
1. The files will be moved in. Will potentially still need to utilize some of
the space under the stairs.
2. Shelving has been purchased and Daryl has installed.
v. NEW Class/Conf. Room (126 & 128)
1. On hold.
h. Circle Hall Elevator
i. Need to take a lot of the ceiling out for repairs- will plastic off to help with dust.
ii. The elevator will be out of commission for a few weeks.
i. Athletic Project
i. Will need to move all the lockers out. They will be moved to a storage area. (Pat
put in a WO please)
ii. Football players are going to help pull carpet.
iii. Pat needs to talk to Mac about more plans. Request to have a few coaches
around when project is going on.
iv. They have prioritized their projects and they want to do everything but the
hallway.
1. Looking at alternatives for the HIPPA and Fire Code issues.
j. Flood Wall
i. Concrete work west of Foss is down. Concrete on Viking Drive is done and they
are almost done back-filling- just the landscape is left. Still planning to have it
open for graduation.
ii. They will start on Foss starting 5/16. They will furnish a couple porta-potties.
There will be power. The music dept. has a plan.
k. Back Alley
i. Dirt work

2. Events
a. Ribbon cutting went well- thanks to all that helped!
3. Safety/Training
a. Fire drills went well. Thank you for helping.
4. FAMIS
a. Jess is working on writing an email on how the new timekeeping stuff from payroll’s
office will affect our processes. Students will be entering their time into PeopleSoft
(except Kevin T). Watch for the email but as of now we won’t need to attend the
trainings.
5. Building Services
a. Rick needs help putting a table back together in Vangstad.
6. Maintenance
a. Pat will put in a work order to have the wood picked up at the foundation house that’s
been gutted.
b. Working on flowerbeds today. 16th is the earliest we can get flowers from NDSU.
i. Suggest to Rhonda to just invite people to help, not assign things.
7. Power House
a. Boilers are shut off- St Ctr is online by itself. A/Cs are up and running.
b. Need to figure out Vangstad- Fred will call again.
8. Other
a. Facilities Services has been awarded the Student Advocate Award from Student Senate

b. Will have work orders entered for Grad set up. Please watch for that.
c. Student employees for summer- still looking for 7 or 8 positions. Kari Bodine has limited
applicants. Jess contacted Mac to see if there’s any football players looking for work.
d. The Gazebo may potentially need to be moved over the water line. Could potentially
just move them out and around the space instead.
