Facilities Services Weekly Update Meeting
4/20/2016

1. Current Projects
a. Vangstad
i. Pat talked to Dan and he will be doing the seeding next week.
ii. The remaining curtains will be installed tomorrow and Thursday.
iii. Kevin Knight is going to fix the broken windows and screens in the auditorium.
iv. Learning Center furniture was delivered today/tomorrow.
v. The signage has been sent to Allard.
b. Wellness Center
i. Ron toured the building and got measurements. It is a unique site.
ii. Jess will be meeting with Diane Burr on 4/26 to discuss office furniture options.
iii. Tables and chairs from the storage building and in Graichen will be used to
furnish the new classrooms.
c. Heat Plant
i. We are starting to measure for the steam pipes (Wrigley Mechanical and RE
Carlson).
ii. Enterprise Sales will be constructing the building.
d. Housing
i. Snoey Steam
1. Ron is meeting today with Wrigley Mechanical and RE Carlson to discuss
repair options. Increase the pressure on the main steam line which may
have possibly resolved the issue. We will know for sure if it works
tonight.
2. Jessica forwarded an email from Steph asking that our staff who
respond to fire alarms make sure that students are evacuating the
building for every alarm. There will be another update email sent from
Steph to keep our staff in the loop.
a. John O’Day has been asked to call Ron if the alarm goes off and
to talk to the students to reassure them that it is not a
dangerous situation and that we are working to resolve the
issue.
ii. McCoy Steam Man Hole
1. Ron is meeting today with Wrigley Mechanical and RE Carlson to discuss
repair options.
e. Capital Plan
i. Ron and Jess met this afternoon and made good progress on the cost estimates
and the scope of work.
f. Summer Projects
i. Student Center Upper Lounge
1. A contract has been sent to Wick and they will start right after
graduation.

ii. McF 2 Floor painting
1. Connie is set to start 5/16.
2. Will send out a crew work order and calendar invite to remove items
from walls to paint (W0698409).
iii. Student Center Heat Coil and Water Tank
1. Pat still needs to confirm the price and get a written estimate so a
contract can be done.
2. Wrigley Mechanical is working on a cost for the water tank.
iv. Circle Hall Interior
1. No updates.
g. McFarland Stabilization
i. Waiting for information from Hayward Baker.
h. McFarland 1st Floor Reconfiguration
i. Shannon moving in 5/1
1. Pat checked the area and all it needs is to be shampooed.
2. Pat met with Shannon to look at furniture and we don’t have a lot of
what she is looking for- will need to involve Wesley.
ii. Ron toured the areas and found:
1. The lounge on 3rd will take a large effort with moving the heating to split
this into 2 offices- hasn’t got prices yet.
2. Brenda Finger’s old office- Ron doesn’t think we will be able to move
the wall- will do more investigation.
3. Other lounge area- waiting to hear what will be done with the file
cabinets.
i. Circle Hall Elevator Repairs (April ’16)
i. No updates.
j. Athletic Project
i. The only price Pat needs to get is the remodeling of Graichen Lower Level.
ii. Ron is getting a price of the metal walkway.
iii. Sound system in Graichen doesn’t need to be done and Deb doesn’t want
anything done to her area.
k. Flood Wall
i. Have 2 more pours on Viking. The plan is to have it open for graduation- the
curb, gutter, and sidewalk won’t be done due to the landscaping that needs to
be done.
ii. Getting ready to pour on 8th Avenue- trying to get it done today. Still hoping to
be open Monday or Tuesday of next week.
iii. Start digging on 4th by the double bridge to start putting in the footings.
l. Back Alley

1. Still waiting on a price from Dan
ii. Lot Striping
2. Events (Kelli will be back on 5/2)
a. 4/26- Career Fair in Graichen (look at leaving some tables and chairs for the blood drive
and College Kid Carnival)- Jess will find out what they need power for and get back to
the group.

Track Meets- LYC on 4/28, BC on 4/26, 2 VC Junior High meets and 1 VCPR meet
beginning of May.
Safety/Training
a. Had a successful active shooter tabletop exercise with the EMT. Will start training
department by department.
b. Ron, Pat, and Jess are working on an emergency procedure manual specifically for
facilities that will call out specific roles and responsibilities. This will be trained on over
the summer.
FAMIS
a. Payroll Modification Interface is on hold.
Building Services
a. 5 interviews were completed, only 2 showed up. Rick will pass the paperwork to the
office to review and forward on to HR.
Maintenance
a. Getting ready for spring projects.
b. Putting together picnic tables, plant a tree for Earth Day.
c. Starting to work on getting equipment information for the preventative maintenance
program.
d. Would like to look at cleaning up the shop area. Ron will have local contractors come
down to look at some of the I-beams to see if we can do a trade.
Power House
a. Working on the Snoey steam issue.
b. Working on the Student Center boiler- won’t start back up.
c. All the electric boilers are on in all of the buildings, getting ready to be able to shut
down the big boiler during the day if it’s warm enough.
d. Still working on figuring out the smell in Rhoades.
