Minutes for Meeting of January 14, 2008
A scheduled meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, January 14 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129.
Committee members present were: Ken Baake, Greg Gellene, Ram Iyer, Anthony Qualin, Mark Stoll,
and David Roach. Presenters were: Jeff Lee and Linda Jones (Economics & Geography), Joe Price and
Hafid Gafaiti (Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures), and Jeff Williams and Helen Morrow
(Sociology, Anthropology, & Social Work).
1. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the
following proposal from the Department of Economics and Geography.
• Add GEOG 5350 Social and Cultural Geography.
2. Committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals
from the Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures.
• Add FREN 5306 Advanced French Phonetics.
• Add FREN 5345 History of the French Language.
3. Committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals from the
Department of Sociology, Anthropology, & Social Work.
• Change title for SW 2301 to: Introduction to Social Work.
• Change title for SW 3311 to: Human Behavior and the Social Environment: Systems.
• Change title for SW 3312 to: Human Behavior and the Social Environment: Lifespan.
The next scheduled meeting of ASCAP is set for Monday, January 28, for proposals that reach the
committee and the Dean’s office by Monday, January 21.
