College of Arts and Sciences Committee on Academic Programs (ASCAP)
Minutes for Meeting of December 8, 2014
A meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, December 8 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129. Committee
members present were: Gretchen Adams, Kelly Cukrowicz, Brett Houk, Matt Olson, Jacob Mota, and
David Roach. Presenters: Dr. Lumpkin (Health, Exercise, & Sport Sciences), Drs. Patterson and
Barkdull (Political Science), Drs. Cohen and Van Allen (Psychological Sciences), and Drs. Collopy,
Pascual y Cabo, and Tecedor (Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures).
1. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend approval for the following
proposals from the Department of Health, Exercise, & Sport Sciences:
 Delete ESS 4366, Motor Control.
 Delete HLTH 4312, Psychosocial Health.
 Add HLTH 4398, Health Seminar.
 Add PFW 1199, Practicum in Athletic Training.
2. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend approval for the following proposal
from the Department of Political Science:
 Change POLS 3410 Political Analysis.
3. The committee voted to recommend approval for the following proposal from the Department of
Psychological Sciences:
 Add PSY 3390 Introduction to Positive Psychology.

Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend approval for the following
proposals from the Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures:
 Add SPAN 5383 Spanish in Contact with Other Languages.
 Add SPAN 5384 Acquisition and Development of Skills in Spanish as a Second
Language.
The next scheduled meeting of ASCAP is set for 3:00 Monday, January 26, 2015. Proposals for this
meeting need to reach the Dean’s office by Monday, January 19, 2015.
