Minutes for Meeting of November 24, 2008
A scheduled meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, November 24 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129.
Committee members present were: Ken Baake, Jim Clopton, Greg Gellene, Ram Iyer, Nicole McKenna,
and David Roach. Presenters were: Dr. Roman Taraban (Psychology), Dr. Kent Pearce (Mathematics
and Statistics), and Dr. Bill VanPatten (Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures).
1. The committee voted to table the following course proposal from the Department of Psychology
pending a presenter:
• Description change for PSY 4336 Research in Personality and Social Psychology.
2. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following course proposal
from the Department of Psychology:
• Title and description change for PSY 4344 (From “Cognitive Science and Contemporary
Culture” to “Cognitive Science Topics”).
3. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following course proposal
from the Department of Mathematics and Statistics:
• Add MATH 5331 Ordinary Differential Equations II.
4. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposal from the
Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures:
• Add LING 4315 Introduction to Spanish Linguistics.
5. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the
following proposal from the Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures:
• Add LING 4383 Topics in Second Language & Bilingual Studies.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of ASCAP is scheduled for Monday, December 8, for proposals
that reach the committee and the Dean’s office by Monday, December 1.
