Minutes for Meeting of September 10, 2012
A scheduled meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, September 10 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129.
Committee members present were: Gretchen Adams, Erin Collopy, Miles Condon, Nelson Dometrius,
Art Durband, Chris Monico, and David Roach. Presenters: Dr. Paine (Sociology, Anthropology, &
Social Work), Dr. Goggin (Health, Exercise, and Sport Sciences), and Dr. Iber (College of Arts and
Sciences).
1. The Department of Communication Studies did not have a representative at the meeting so the
following proposal was tabled:
 Change hours for COMS 2300 Public Speaking.
2. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration
the following proposal from the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work:
 Add ANTH 5319 Topics in Physical Anthropology.
3. The committee recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals from the
Department of Health, Exercise, and Sport Sciences:
 Change title for PFW 1111 Aerobic Dance.
 Change number for ESS 2222 Training & Conditioning.
4. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration
the following proposals from the College of Arts and Sciences:
 Add CASC 3300 Introduction to Integrative Research in Arts and Sciences.
 Add CASC 4350 Capstone in Integrative Research in Arts and Sciences.
5. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to approve the following core course proposal from
the Department of Psychology:
 Add PSY 3400 Statistical Methods to the list of core courses that fulfill the Mathematics &
Logic requirement.
6. The following core proposals were tabled pending the need for revisions:
 CHEM 1308 Principles of Chemistry (Life and Physical Sciences).
 GEOG 2351 Regional Geography of the World (Social & Behavioral Sciences).
The next regularly scheduled meeting of ASCAP is scheduled for Monday, September 24, for proposals
that reach the committee and the Dean’s office by Monday, September 17.
