College of Arts and Sciences Committee on Academic Programs (ASCAP)
Minutes for Meeting of November 22, 2010
A scheduled meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, November 22 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129.
Committee members present were: Lee Cohen, Erin Collopy, Jerry Koch, Philip Pope, Rich Rice, and
David Roach. Presenters: Dr. Helen Morrow and Dr. Laura Beard.
1. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposal
from the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work.
 Change course hours for SW 4300 Independent Study in Social Work.
2. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposal
from the Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures:
 Add LING 5332 Instructed Second Language Acquisition.
3. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration
the following proposal from the Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures:
 Add GERM 3314 Cultural Excursions in Germany.
4. Proposers asked to hold the CMRS 5399 Independent Studies proposal (Center for Medieval and
Renaissance Studies) until the December meeting.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of ASCAP is scheduled for Monday, December 6, for proposals
that reach the committee and the Dean’s office by Monday, November 29.
