Minutes for Meeting of September 28, 2009
A scheduled meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, September 28 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129.
Committee members present were: Jim Clopton, Greg Gellene, Ram Iyer, Jerry Koch, Anthony Qualin,
Rich Rice, John Sager, and David Roach. Presenters were: Paul Bjerk (History), David Larmour and
Don Lavigne (Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures), and Susan Hendrick and Alice Young
(Psychology).
1. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals
from History:
• Add HIST 2302 History of American Business.
• Add HIST 4384 Slavery in Africa.
2. The committee voted against recommending the following proposal from History:
• Add HIST 2302 History of American Business to the TTU Core Curriculum (Social and
Behavioral Science category).
3. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals
from the Department of Geosciences:
• Add GEOL 4201 Field Methods In Sedimentary Geology.
• Add GEOL 4301 Advanced Field Methods
• Change Title and Description for GEOL 4320.
4. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals
from the Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures:
• Add CLAS 3315 The World of Egypt and the Near East to the list of courses that satisfy the
Humanities and the Multicultural requirements in the Core.
• Add CLAS 3340 Gender and Sexuality in the Ancient World to the list of courses that satisfy
the Humanities and the Multicultural requirements in the Core.
5. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposal
from the Department of Psychology:
• Add PSY 5301 Biological Bases of Psychological Function.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of ASCAP is scheduled for Monday, October 12, for proposals that
reach the committee and the Dean’s office by Monday, October 5.
