Minutes for Meeting of October 28, 2013
A meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, October 28 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129. Committee members
present were: Gretchen Adams, Jim Barrick, Scott Baugh, Nelson Dometrius, Art Durband, Matt Olson, Travis
Roach, and David Roach. Presenters: Dr. McBee (History), Dr. Paine (Sociology, Anthropology, & Social Work),
and Dr. Surliuga (Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures).
1.
The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals from the
Department of History:
 Add HIST 3303 Introduction to Roman Law
 Add HIST 4335 The History of Hip Hop.
2.
Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the
following proposals from the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, & Social Work:
 Add ANTH 4643 Field Research in Skeletal Biology.
 Add ANTH 5360 Field Research in Skeletal Biology.
3.
Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the
following proposals from the Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures:
 Add ITAL 1501 Beginning Course Italian I.
 Add ITAL 1502 Beginning Course Italian II.

The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals from the
Department of Sociology, Anthropology, & Social Work:
 Proposal for New Masters in Social Work.
 Add SW 5264 Foundation Field Placement 1.
 Add SW 5310 Social Work Profession and Social Welfare Policy.
 Add SW 5311 Human Behavior & the Social Environment: Systems.
 Add SW 5312 Human Behavior & the Social Environment: Lifespan.
 Add SW 5331 Social Work with Diverse Populations.
 Add SW 5332 Foundation Practice 1.
 Add SW 5333 Foundation Practice 2.
 Add SW 5339 Foundations of Social Work Research.
 Add SW 5467 Foundation Field Placement 2.
5.
The following proposal from the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, & Social Work was removed
from consideration by the Department:
 Add SW 5160 Field Seminar.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of ASCAP is scheduled for Monday, November 11, for proposals that reach
the committee and the Dean’s office by Monday, November 4.
