Minutes for Meeting of April 27, 2009
A scheduled meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, April 27 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129.
Committee members present were: Ken Baake, Jim Clopton, Greg Gellene, Ram Iyer, Jerry Koch, Nicole
McKenna, Anthony Qualin, and David Roach. Presenters were: Drs. Casadonte and Poirier (Chemistry
and Biochemistry), Drs. Williams, Paine, Houk, and Durband (Sociology, Anthropology, and Social
Work), and Dr. Surliuga (Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures).
1. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals from the
Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry:
• Add CHEM 5340 Physical Chemistry I.
• Add CHEM 5341 Physical Chemistry II.
• Add CHEM 5344 Kinetics of Chemical Reactions.
2. The committee voted to table the following proposal from the Department of Sociology,
Anthropology, and Social Work due to concerns and needs for revision.
• Add ANTH 3005 Intro to Forensic Sciences.
3. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals from the
Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Social Work:
• Add ANTH 3313 Primate Evolution.
• Add ANTH 4310 Cultural Resource Management.
4. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposal from the
Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures:
• Add ITAL 3315 Italian Film Makers to the list of courses that fulfill the Visual and
Performing Arts requirement in the Core Curriculum.
5. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following revised proposal
from the Department of Physics:
• Add PHYS 1402 Physics of Living Matter to the list of courses that fulfill the Natural
Sciences requirement in the Core Curriculum.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of ASCAP will be held in September 2009. The schedule for Fall
2009 and Spring 2010 meetings will be distributed in August 2009.
