Minutes for Meeting of January 10, 2011
A scheduled meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, January 10 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129.
Committee members present were: Lee Cohen, Jerry Koch, Philip Pope, Rich Rice, and David Roach.
Presenters: Drs. Tsai, Bradatan, and Johnson (Sociology, Anthropology, & Social Work), and
Drs. Gafaiti, Baines, and Price (Classical & Modern Languages and Literatures).
1. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration
the following proposals from the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, & Social Work:
 Add SOC 5101 Professional Socialization.
 Add SOC 5329 Social Inequality.
 Change title for SOC 5332 The Research Organization.
2. The proposal to add SOC 5360 Sociology of Globalization was withdrawn by the department.
3. At the December 6, 2010 meeting, the committee voted to recommend the SASW proposal to add
ANTH 3343 Human Osteology. Subsequent to the meeting, it was found that course number
3343 was already designated for an existing anthropology course. The number for the proposed
course was changed to ANTH 3314 and was sent to the next level of consideration.
4. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposals
from the Department of Classical & Modern Languages and Literatures:
 Add FREN 5301 Practicum in Language Teaching Methods.
 Add FREN 5310 Medieval and Renaissance Literature.
 Add FREN 5311 From Baroque to Revolution.
5. The proposal to delete FREN 5312 Medieval Literature was withdrawn by the department.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of ASCAP is scheduled for Monday, January 24, for proposals that
reach the committee and the Dean’s office by Monday, January 17.
