Minutes for Meeting of April 14, 2014
A meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, April 14 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 202. Committee
members present were: Gretchen Adams, Jim Barrick, Scott Baugh, Nelson Dometrius, Brett Houk, Matt
Olson, Travis Roach, and David Roach. Presenters: Dr. Kimball (Communication Studies), Drs.
Densmore and Schwilk (Biology), Dr. Collopy (Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures), Drs.
Batra, Borshuk, Kvande, and McNamara (English), and Dr. Serra (Psychology).
1. The committee voted to reject the following proposals from Communication Studies:
 Change course number for COMS 2301 Communication Theory.
 Change course number for COMS 2302 Communication Research.
2. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration
the following proposal from the Department of Biology:
 Add BIOL 6325 R as a Research Tool.
3. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration
the following proposal from the Department of Classical & Modern Literatures & Languages:
 Add SPAN 1101 Practical Survival Spanish.
4. The committee voted to recommend the following proposals from the Department of English:
 Add ENGL 3392 African American Literature.
 Add ENGL 3393 US Latino Literature.
 Add ENGL 4390 Internship in English.
5. Pending revisions, committee voted to recommend the following proposals from the Department
of English:
 Add ENGL 3338 Global South Literatures.
 Add ENGL 3394 Asian American Literature.
 Add ENGL 3395 Native American Literature.
6. Pending revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the
following proposal from the Department of Psychology:
 Add PSY 5358 Metacognition.
7. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following proposal
from the Department of Health, Exercise, and Sport Sciences:
 Change title for ESS 4358 Sport Management.
The last scheduled meeting of ASCAP this semester is set for 3:00 Monday, May 5, 2014. Proposals for
this meeting need to reach the Dean’s office by Monday, April 28.
