Minutes for Meeting of January 26, 2015
A meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, January 26 at 3:00 p.m. in Admin 104. Committee members
present were: Gretchen Adams, Jim Barrick, Kelly Cukrowicz, Luis Ramirez, Matt Olson, Jacob Mota, and
David Roach. Presenters: Dr. Gellene (Chemistry), Dr. Wenthe (English), Dr. Lumpkin (Health, Exercise, &
Sport Sciences), Dr. Barkdull (Political Science), and Dr. Houk (Sociology, Anthropology, & Social Work).
1.
Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend approval for the following proposals from the
Department of Chemistry:
 Add CHEM 1411, General Chemistry I.
 Add CHEM 1412, General Chemistry II.
2.
No representative from the Department of Classical & Modern Languages & Literatures was able to attend
the meeting to present so the following proposal was tabled.
 Add SPAN 5385, Seminar: Hispanic Linguistics.
3.
The committee voted to recommend approval for the following proposals from English:
 Add ENGL 3351 Poetry to the TTU Multicultural Core list.
 Add ENGL 3351 Fiction to the TTU Multicultural Core list.
 Add ENGL 3351 Non-fiction to the TTU Multicultural Core list.
 Add ENGL 3338 Literatures of the Global South to the TTU Multicultural Core list.
4.
The committee voted to recommend approval for the following proposals from the Department of Health,
Exercise, & Sport Sciences:
 Add new MS in Sport Management Program.
 Delete ESS 2245 Practical Experience in Physical Education.
 Delete ESS 2275 Practicum Exercise and Health Problems.
5.
Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend approval for the following proposals from the
Department of Health, Exercise, & Sport Sciences:
 Change ESS 3301 Biomechanics, Change title.
 Change ESS 3401 Intro to Motor Behavior, increase course hours.
 Change ESS 4363 Principles and Theories of Exercise Psychology, increase course hours.
 Change ESS 5322 Management of Sport and Athletics, Change title.
 Change ESS 5325 Ethics and Morality in Sport, Change title and description.
 Change PFW 1113 Golf.
 Change PFW 2113 Advanced Golf change course description.

Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend approval for the following proposal from the
Department of Political Science:
 Add POLS 4001, Congressional Internship.

The committee voted to recommend approval for the following proposals from the Department of
Sociology, Anthropology, & Social Work:
 Change ANTH 5305, Method and Theory in Cultural Anthropology, Change title and description.
 Delete SOC 4395, Senior Seminar.
 Create SW 6040, Individual Study.
 Create SW 6355, Social Work Practice with Groups.
 Create SW 6374, Social Work Practice with Veterans & Military Families.
 Request to Add ANTH 3343 to A&S General Education Requirement for Language, Philosophy &
Culture.

Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend approval for the following proposals from
the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, & Social Work:
 Create SW 6350, Social Work Practice with Individuals.
 Create SW 6358, Social Welfare Policy Analysis.
 Create SW 6374, Social Work Practice with Veterans & Military Families.
The next scheduled meeting of ASCAP is set for 3:00 Monday, February 9, 2015 in Admin 104. Proposals for
this meeting need to reach the Dean’s office by Monday, February 2, 2015.
