Minutes for Meeting of October 27, 2008
A scheduled meeting of ASCAP was held on Monday, October 27 at 3:00 p.m. in Holden Hall 129.
Committee members present were: Jim Clopton, Greg Gellene, Ram Iyer, Jerry Koch, Nicole McKenna,
Anthony Qualin, and David Roach. Presenters were: Dr. Surliuga (CMLL), Dr. Williams (HESS), Drs.
McBee, Abi-Hamad, and Levario (History), and Drs. Ridley and Wiens (Geosciences).
1. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the
following course proposals from the Department of Classical & Modern Languages and Literatures:
• Title Change for ITAL 3390 from “Survey of Italian Cinema” to “Italian Cinema.”
• Title change and course number change from ITAL 4315 “Cinema of Federico Fellini” to
ITAL 3315 “Italian Film-Makers.”
2. The committee voted against recommending to the next level of consideration the following course
proposals from the Department of Classical & Modern Languages and Literatures:
• ITAL 3390 Survey of Italian Cinema” to be included on the TTU Core Curriculum list of
courses that satisfy the Humanities requirement.
• ITAL 3315 “Italian Film-Makers” to be included on the TTU Core Curriculum list of courses
that satisfy the Humanities requirement.
3. The committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the following revised course
proposals from the Department of English:
• Add ENGL 5379 Empirical Research Methods in Technical Communication and
Rhetoric.
• Add ENGL 5382 Theory and Research in the Written Discourse of Health and Medicine.
• Add ENGL 5383 Grants and Proposals.
4. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the
following course proposal from the Department of Health, Exercise, and Sports Science:
• Title change for ESS 5002: From “Internship in Sports Health” to “Clinical Internship.”
5. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the
following revised course proposals from the Department of History:
• Add HIST 4382 Borderlands/Transnational History and Culture.
• Add HIST 4385 Global Islam: Past and Present.
6. Pending minor revisions, the committee voted to recommend to the next level of consideration the
following revised course proposals from the Department of Geosciences:
• Add ATMO 5322 Atmospheric Electricity.
** All needed revisions will be communicated to the proposers.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of ASCAP is scheduled for Monday, November 10, for proposals
that reach the committee and the Dean’s office by Monday, November 3.
