Project Description: The notice to proceed with construction of the 56,468 square-foot Health
Sciences Facility was issued on January 17, 2012. Construction was anticipated to be completed
in July 2013; however, the project is still not complete because the contractor has some
outstanding items to address.
The facility accommodates the rapidly growing health care programs to include Nursing,
Hemodialysis, Health Unit Coordinator, Materials Management/CS, Surgical Technology,
Medical Assistant, Medical Lab Technician, Medical Office Specialist, and Pharmacy
Technician. This state-of-the-art facility also provides space for new programs including
Registered Nurse, Histology Technician, as well as Chemistry and Anatomy and Physiology
labs.

Scope changes: One roof garden was converted to a classroom.

The design process was completed on scheduled and the construction bid took place on
November 15, 2011. The construction contract was awarded on January 17, 2012.

Discussion of Project Quality
The pre-design and the design are completed and the construction contract was awarded on January
17, 2012. The parking lot was available for the College’s use by the first day of fall quarter 2014.
Substantial completion was October 21, 2014. The anticipated final completion date is June 30,
2015.
