DSHS and WSNS are housed in leased facilities. Customers that need services from all three complain that services should be better integrated and consistent and that they spend too much time traveling between the various facilities. Funding streams for such services have changed and will continue to change. There is a need to address how services delivery can be improved as well as sustained. To improve service delivery and address impending changes in funding, the Center for Employment and Education which integrates employment, education, and social services in one facility on a community college campus is being built. The facility will have the flexibility to respond to emerging trends in workforce training. Physically co-locating the services will provide the best environment for reducing redundancies and streamlining service for customers. The project has been designed per sustainable design guidelines and will be more energy efficient in the long term. Locating these state functions in state owned energy efficient properties will be a better use of state monies.
