Our test for this was today. These graphing skills will help your child as they prepare the tables and graphs for their Science Fair project. Scoop on Science This week students have been learning about the 5 kingdoms of living things and the characteristics of each kingdom. Students are preparing their study guide in preparation for next Friday’s test on Cells and Classification. Lots About Language Arts We ended our reading of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer this week. Students are preparing scene skits for performance in class Wednesday. Simple props are encouraged. This quarter’s book project: Students have been reminded that while they read their nonfiction book this quarter, they should be taking notes on what they’re learning. They know they will be creating a poster to share with the class. Students will receive their materials the week of Feb. 20, with over 2 weeks to prepare their posters. Posters and book logs are due Monday, 3/5. Spelling: Unit 20, words with –ance and -ence endings, next week. The Hype on History This week we’ve studied Nat Turner’s rebellion, the efforts of Harriet Tubman on the Underground Railroad, and the growing differences between the North and the South. We also continue to read and be moved by the narrative of Frederick Douglass. SPECIALS NEXT WEEK: Art is our special next week.
