Memos on Math
Students have been
studying Ch. 6, Making
Graphs. Our test for this
was today. These graphing skills
will help your child as they
prepare the tables and graphs for
their Science Fair project. We
have used the netbooks in class
to practice making graphs.

Scoop on Science
This week students have
been learning about the 5
kingdoms of living things and
the characteristics of each
kingdom. Students are
preparing their study guide in
preparation for next Friday’s
test on Cells and
Classification.
Lots About Language Arts
We ended our reading of The
Adventures of Tom Sawyer this
week. Students are preparing
scene skits for performance in
class Wednesday. Simple props
are encouraged.
This quarter’s book project:
Students have been reminded
that while they read their nonfiction book this quarter, they
should be taking notes on what
they’re learning. They know
they will be creating a poster to
share with the class. Students
will receive their materials the
week of Feb. 20, with over 2
weeks to prepare their posters.
Posters and book logs are due
Monday, 3/5.
Spelling: Unit 20, words with
–ance and -ence endings, next
week.
The Hype on History
This week we’ve studied Nat
Turner’s rebellion, the efforts
of Harriet Tubman on the
Underground Railroad, and
the growing differences
between the North and the
South. We also continue to
read and be moved by the
narrative of Frederick
Douglass.
SPECIALS NEXT WEEK:
Art is our special
next week.
Next week's saying is…..
“Out of the frying pan and
into the fire”
