The Hype on History Lots About Language Arts Scoop on Science This week we learned about the process of photosynthesis and enjoyed using the microscopes to view the leaf’s stomata. Students grade sheets for their Science Fair projects will be included in next week’s Friday folder. This week, we are sharing our projects in class and will enjoy displaying them next week in the TCKS Science Fair. Overall, students did a FABULOUS job applying the scientific method in their projects! This week we learned about the Ironclads, the battle of Antietam, and the Emancipation Proclamation. Next, we compared and contrasted three important generals; Lee, Jackson, and Grant. We also had a special ‘soldiers’ tent meeting’ to learn about the life of the Civil War soldiers – the Rebels and the Yankees. Ask your child about today’s encampment activities. SPECIALS NEXT WEEK: Art is our special upon next week. Language Students used their writing skills to write the Science Fair summary for their project. Summaries were typed and turned in this week in preparation for next week’s Science Fair. Next week, we will practice recognition of and writing to various prompts (narrative, expository, persuasive) in preparation for TCAP. Reading: We will continue our reading of Little Women next week. Students will share their non-fiction book projects (due Tuesday) next week. Book logs are also due Tuesday. Spelling: Unit 23, prefixes (dis-, pre-, mis-, in-) next week.
