Please read over the materials sent home in the Friday folder today and help your child rehearse the 2 scenes this weekend! Only those who desire a speaking part must audition. *Parent(s) needed to help supervise in classroom Tuesday through Friday, 11:10-12:05 during auditions. Tues., 2/7 – Data/Observations due in Science Fair Journal Fri., 2/10 – Math Ch. 6 Test Ready, Set, Contact Mrs. Wick TCAPS are Coming! Our TCAP testing window is 3/193/30, Tues., Wed., and Thurs. of each of those weeks. PLEASE DO NOT SCHEDULE OUT OF TOWN DAYS OR MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS ON THESE DAYS. Scoop on Science Students prepared cheek cell slides with compound microscopes this week. Students have really enjoyed the opportunity to use the equipment and have become quite adept at it! Students are currently working in class on a study guide for this portion of the unit. The Hype on History Students’ graded Westward Expansion Test will be returned to them Monday. We are now looking at the causes of the American Civil War starting with the issue of slavery. We have many exciting activities planned for this unit. Memos on Math Graded tests for Ch. 5 are included in this Friday folder. Students began studying Ch. 6, Making Graphs, this week. Our test for this chapter is Friday. These graphing skills will help your child when preparing the tables and graphs for their Science Fair project. We have also used the netbooks to practice making graphs. Lots About Language Arts Language: Students have been learning and practicing persuasive writing skills these last two weeks and have applied this to a historical piece (re: the war with Mexico) and to a personal piece. Next, students will use their language skills to listen and respond to Frederick Douglass’s autobiography (abridged), Escape From Slavery. Reading: We will finish Tom Sawyer next week. Students have enjoyed the story lines in the novel as they prepare for their musical performance in April. Next week’s saying….. “Make a mountain out of a molehill”
