SPECIALS NEXT WEEK:
Music is our Special next
week with rehearsals for our
production of “Tom Sawyer.”
This week, we began our
unit on Westward
Expansion after the Civil
War. We learned about the
mining frontier,
transcontinental railroad,
and the cattle frontier. (Ask
your child about the catherding video  ) We also
learned about farming the
Great Plains. Next week
we’ll learn about the wild,
wild west and Alaska joining
the Union.
Don’t forget our “Go West” program May 4th, 2:00,
in the TCKS Library, as we take you through history 
Memos on Math
This week we learned about
polygons, circles, congruent
and similar shapes, and
symmetry. We will review Ch.
20 on Wednesday and take
the test Thursday. We will
continue to explore Geometry
in Ch. 21. Next Tuesday,
students will take the MAPS
math assessment.
Lots About Language Arts
Language: Students are
currently typing their animal
reports in class. Students who
are behind in the process (due
to not having their resources
on time, absences, or loss of
research paper) must use
recesses or before/after school
time to get back on track.
Reading: We continue to
enjoy our Civil War novels.
Also, students should be busy
reading a historical fiction for
this quarter’s book report and
diorama project. Remember to
save a shoebox/small box!
Spelling: Our next spelling list
will again consist of states and
their capitals, learning to spell
them, memorizing the capital
for each state, and where each
state is located on a map.
