The Hype on History
We started the Civil War by
firing on Fort Sumter this
week. We also learned about
the strengths of the North
and of the South as the two
sides headed into war. We
also learned about the
struggle many faced in
deciding on which side to
fight. We discussed the
Anaconda Plan, and I was
able to share my ancestor’s
letter written September,
1861, as he discussed the
North’s strategy and his own
experiences so far.
Memos on Math
The graded quiz for Chapter
25, Perimeter, is included in
this Friday folder.
We began Ch. 26, Area,
Monday and will test this
chapter next Thursday. We’ll
then begin Measurement.
This is a very hands-on
chapter as we navigate
between customary and
metric units of measurement.
Night
April – PSD Science Fair
Scoop on Science
We have begun our unit on
Plants and will enjoy the
microscopes and microslide
viewers with this unit as well.
Lots About Language Arts
Language: Students were given
class time to write the summary
for their Science Fair Project. This

is due Friday, March 2nd. Feel
free to proofread for your child.
Students will need to print 2
COPIES.
Reading: We are reading Little
Women and having many
valuable conversations on
character. Students are learning
rich vocabulary and practicing
many reading skills and
strategies.
