Classroom Happenings!

Scoop on Science

Students grade sheets for their Science Fair projects are included in this Friday folder. Overall, students did a FABULOUS job applying the scientific method in their projects!

CONGRATULATIONS to

INDRI and MEGAN S. on their HONORABLE

MENTIONS for his project 

This week we meiosis (to create gametes) and regeneration of plants. We will continue with this unit when we return from Spring Break.

The Hype on History

This week students worked diligently in class on compare/contrast essays on Lee and

Grant. This is an important writing skill and we had perfect subjects! Upon our return from

Spring Break, students will learn about roles women played in the Civil War, and we will continue on to Vicksburg and Gettysburg.

We will begin reading Civil

War novels soon after our return from Spring Break.

Some of my students will read with Mrs. Adams in

Across Five

Aprils

, with Mrs. Leinhart in

Shades of Gray

, and with me in

Red Badge of Courage

.

Yeah! Are we ever ready for Spring

Break! Your students have worked hard and have

NOOOOO homework over

Spring Break! That being said, don’t let your minds turn to mush; read, do some IXL

(extra credit), etc. Above all, have a restful, fun, and enjoyable week! I’ll see you all back here on the 19 th ready for a great last quarter 

Memos on Math

Students have been learning about measurement using customary units. We’ll continue this chapter, including the use of metrics, upon our return.

Students also completed a TCAP review packet.

Lots About Language Arts

Language We reviewed a variety of prompts to determine the writing format (narrative, expository) for each. Students practiced writing each style as we warmed up for TCAP testing.

Reading: The genre for 4 th quarter is historical means the story fiction . This

takes place during an actual event in our nation’s history and the event plays a part in the story . Students will need a shoe box for the project, so tuck one away for later use!

Spelling: None for the week of

3/22-26 due to TCAP
