Brize Norton Primary School Newsletter www.bnschool.org office.2250@brize-norton.oxon.sch.uk Twitter @BrizePrimary Issue: 28 26th June 2015 Dear Parents, MUSIC FESTIVALS Congratulations to our Year 5 and Key Stage 1 children on their excellent performances in the partnership music festivals this week. I am always so impressed by the singing of the children at our school. In particular, one of the Burford teachers approached Mrs Thornton saying she really hopes our children will be joining them next year – thinking about future school plays! Parents will be able to hear the music the children performed, alongside other poems, plays and musical items, at our forthcoming summer concerts. FOREST SCHOOL We are making progress with preparing for Forest School in September. If you look at the wild area at the back of the school, it is now much more wild, with the concrete and stinging nettles gone and a lovely fire pit created. There is still more work to do, but we are on our way. We will be holding a work day on Monday 13 th July, so if any parents are willing to come and help, please get in touch with me or Mrs Rae. STAFF CHANGES I am sorry to tell you that Mrs Dickson and Mr Anagor will be leaving us at the end of this term. They have both been very valuable members of the team; Mrs Dickson, in particular, has been here for many years. We are very grateful to them both. We have reorganized the hours of some of our existing staff, but we are also now advertising for a new teaching assistant, to work between 12.00 and 3.15 every day from September 2015. The post will involve supervising lunch times and then supporting in Class 3 during the afternoons. If you are interested, the details and how to apply are on the Oxfordshire jobs website jobs.oxfordshire.gov.uk. Let me know if you would like to discuss the post with me in confidence. MONEY MATTERS I have been asked to inform parents that the deadline for ordering school uniform from the online shop will be 14th August. Also, you should have received a letter about dinner money. We will be using an online payment system from September. We are hoping this will be more convenient for you, as you will be able to pay for your child’s school meals whenever and wherever you like. It will also save the school money as it will reduce the amount of admin time spent counting money. I do want to reassure you that you will still be able to order food on the day without having to plan in advance, as I know that is something parents value. HOUSE CAPTAINS’ TALENT SHOW We have a new date in the diary: our house captains have decided to run a talent show in the morning of Thursday 16 th July. The event will be planned and run by them (with support from staff when they need it, of course), and hopefully it will be a lot of fun! We continue to have a really busy term. Next week: school photograph, swimming gala, Year 4 French day, the new children in for lunch and cycling proficiency testing. You will also be receiving your child’s report on Monday, giving you a week to read it before the open evening. Meanwhile, hopefully see you on Sunday for the fete!
