Role Purpose To operate, monitor and manage process and mobile plant and related activities for the treatment of industrial liquid and solid wastes as part of a 24/7 shift system in accordance with regulatory and safe operating requirements. Page: 1 of 3 Key Responsibilities To offload and treat waste safely and efficiently by using procedures, method statements risk assessments, and acquired knowledge and experience. To plan work around the wastes requiring treatment, achieving regulatory and operational compliance and the availability of process plant and other services (for example reagents, trade effluent capacity). To operate equipment in a diligent way so as to not to cause harm, damage or regulatory breach. To assist in the development and review of procedures, method statements, risk assessments and similar to improve the safe and efficient operation of the site. To monitor and react to changing wastes and waste treatment regimes so as to optimize waste processing. To undertake photometric and similar chemical testing of wastes as received or during processing. To maintain records of activity including waste processed, operating conditions, plant condition and the results of testing. Communicate effectively with all site staff, contractors and drivers to ensure effective and safe operation of the plant. To monitor equipment and identify any faults or potential faults. To undertake routine preventative maintenance of fixed and mobile plant and routine replacement of filter press cloths. To operate a weighbridge during off peak hours. Provide permits to work for internal staff and contractors. To provide cover for other staff in the event of absence. Operate mobile plant equipment loading/unloading of vehicles. for transfers around the site and Carry out any other reasonable tasks, in line with an individual’s knowledge and capability, as required by the Company. Page: 2 of 3 Qualifications and Experience Preferably a degree in chemistry, process engineering or chemical engineering, HNC or HND in chemistry and/or, experience in the process (chemical) industry or waste treatment industry experience. Experience in working with a computer operated plant. Personal Qualities Be able to work as part of a small team both under supervision and self management outside of normal site hours. Ability to plan workloads in a dynamic/fluid system where waste arrives randomly. Be a good communicator and ordered in keeping records.
