Role Purpose To work within the Waste Treatment Division (WTD) to undertake and develop pilot and full scale treatment processes for industrial wastes. This will include the set up and operation of mobile waste treatment plant, routine maintenance, Page: 1 of 3 process monitoring and evaluation. In addition the individual will be able to support others in the business in developing trade effluent consents, monitoring and maintaining tank storage and similar infrastructure. The role will include work at sites throughout the UK and the need for some overnight stays Key Responsibilities To operate, monitor and maintain industrial waste processing equipment including that associated with flocculation, coagulation, simple filtration, storage tanks, pipework, valves dewatering and membrane filtration To identify appropriate safety and process considerations to allow the operation of the equipment to process wastes and to produce safe working procedures for themselves and others to operate the equipment To develop appropriate monitoring and testing regimes and where appropriate to undertake or arrange analytical testing of wastes and effluents To liaise with water company trade effluent officers and help in the negotiation of effluent consents. To maintain accurate records and produce performance evaluations on pilot and full scale treatment operations so as to evaluate different techniques and identify successes and failures To assist other WTD staff in their routine operations including waste processing and laboratory assessment To maintain good relationships with internal and external customers and equipment suppliers Qualifications and Experience (preferred) Preferably a degree in chemistry, process engineering, or related subject Experience, ‘in the field’ of waste, wastewater water and water treatment ‘in the field’ in particular coagulation/flocculation, dewatering and membrane filtration, Experience of waste, wastewater water and water analyses using spectrophotometric methods Knowledge of MS Office Full driving licence Page: 2 of 3 Personal Qualities Be able to work alone and as part of a small team Be practical and able to undertake routine mechanical maintenance tasks and able to problem solve Be organised and methodical in observing and monitoring process operations Be customer focussed and able to communicate or liaise confidently with people at all levels Have flexible attitude to work and available to work away from home Other Information Location – Based at Knostrop, Leeds but role requires travel around UK with overnight stays Reports – Operations Manager Page: 3 of 3
