Role Purpose
To ensure that all vehicles carrying waste or recyclables are weighed on entering
and exiting the facility in accordance with all Group policies, and in compliance
with all statutory regulations and requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Weighbridge Operator

To assist site management to control and co-ordinate a safe and efficient
operation of site in accordance with management instructions, health &
safety and legislative requirements such as working plans, planning
permissions, waste management permit etc.

To be aware of, and conversant with, the relevant details of the waste
management permit, integrated management system, risk assessments,
COSHH assessments, emergency procedures and other relevant health &
safety and environmental documents as directed by the site management.

To protect the company’s ability to trade by ensuring compliance with
relevant legislation at all times and especially that concerning health and
safety in the workplace and the ‘Duty of Care’.

To ensure that equipment is maintained as specified and the appropriate
records are completed.

To operate the weighbridge systems in accordance with the Duty of Care
regulations, waste management permit and Group policies & procedures,
and maintain reliable, adequate and accurate records thereof.

To be courteous to customers at all times, thereby providing exemplary
customer service.

To assist customers wherever safe, practical and necessary.

Administration work to include filing, answering the telephone and record
keeping.

To provide accurate information regarding volumes of waste and
recyclables held on site to haulage contractors and to assist them
wherever safe, practical and necessary.

To ensure that all drivers that report to the weighbridge receive site rules
and that records of their issue are maintained.

Cover for holidays/sick as necessary.

To report to the site management any breach of rules, act of dishonesty,
malpractice or corruption by any member of the public, visitor to the site,
or member of staff.

To undertake any other duties reasonably requested by FCC
management, including working at other sites.
Plant Operator
 Completing daily start up inspections of mobile plant. Recording results
on the inspections sheets and informing the site supervisor of any
defects.
 Ensuring mobile plant interior and exterior is kept in a clean condition at all
times
 Undertaking light maintenance of machines including greasing as per
machine specifications and clearing debris from arms and belly plate on a
regular basis and in accordance with company safe working practice.
 Ensuring good housekeeping within the work area throughout the day and
at the end of the day.
 Enforcing traffic management.
 Ensuring health and safety aspects are being adhered to and recording
any near misses which arise.
 Loading vehicles as required for the onward transportation of waste.
 Ensure waste being loaded is rotated to ensure that it does not exceed the
maximum storage limitation as set out in the site permit.
 Good communication with site staff to ensure efficient movement of waste
and daily operations.
 Monitoring fuel usage and reporting to site supervisor when resources are
running low.
 Assisting with other duties when necessary
 Cover for holidays/sick as necessary

Any other duties deemed necessary to meet the needs of the business. To
undertake any other duties reasonably requested by FCC management,
including working at other sites.
Qualifications and Experience (preferred)

Good timekeeping is essential.

Proven written and oral communication skills.

IT literate and have good numerical skills.

Experienced in operating Wheeled Loading Shovels and hold a current
license is preferable but not essential as training will be considered for the
right candidate.
Familiar in loading bulk articulated vehicles with varying materials
preferable.
Experience in working within the waste industry would be beneficial but
not essential.
Personal Qualities




Needs to be able keep calm and professional at all times even when under
pressure.
Be a very good communicator.
Self motivated to achieve targets.
Flexible.

Location – Goole Transfer Station
Hours of Work - Weekend (Saturday & Sunday)
Some week day holiday/sick cover expected
