Job Role
Reporting to the Regional Environment Manager, to champion environmental
issues at the site(s) through advising, supporting and providing guidance and

information to all levels of site staff to ensure environmental matters are at the
heart of the operation.
To co-operate and assist in developing the site’s relationship with the regulator.
To ensure all environmental monitoring and reporting is completed in accordance
with the site’s monitoring requirements.
To advise and help deliver plans to manage and control all environmental
compliance issues at the site.
To oversee the continued development of the site based environmental
management system.
Key Responsibilities











Responsible for ensuring implementation of the company’s Health, Safety,
Environment and Quality Policies and Procedures in all activities pertaining to
the role.
Advise and guide the site manager to achieve overall compliance with the
Environmental Permit and other relevant environmental legislation.
Ensure monitoring is undertaken to schedule and reports submitted in
accordance with the requirements of the Environmental Permit to the
Environment Regulator.
Report non-conformances against environmental requirements using
appropriate notification procedures. Investigate, set up action plans and
support close out any such non-conformances.
Liaise with the Environment Agency on matters of compliance and support
operations at Environment Agency Liaison meetings to ensure a trusting and
working relationship is maintained.
Maintain compliance with BS 14181.
Maintain accreditation to ISO 14001, drive continuous improvements in
environmental management on site through developing management of site
specific environmental procedures.
Support internal and external system and EA OMA audits as required,
ensuring any NCR’s are closed out.
Review the IMS environment impacts and aspects register for the facility.
Provide information/guidance on environmental matters to all levels of FCC
Environment personnel at the facility and within the SHEQ department.
Review environmental data and trends to identify areas for improvements
within the operation of the facility reporting any limit breaches.

Provide environmental advice to Estates on EfW permit and planning
applications, drafts, appeals and variations specific to the site(s).
Co-ordination of consultants and contractors working on environmental
aspects at site(s).
Log and respond to complaints, ensuring there is an action plan and issue is
closed out as required as per the companies systems.
Support Investigations and prepare reports on environmental events and
incidents.
Liaise with training team to ensure consistent standards and knowledge for
site staff; be the central point of contract for all staff site environmental permit
related queries and training needs.
Provide information for the site to the Regional Environmental Manager to
allow for monthly reports to be produced.
Carry out such other duties as may be required by the Regional Environment
Manager, commensurate with the knowledge and skills of the post holder.
Qualifications and Experience




Preferably educated to degree level but otherwise with a proven track record
in an environmental role.
Experience of data collation; review and report production.
Ability to learn and implement new concepts and ideas.
Strong reputation for consistent delivery of projects on time and to budget
within a demanding commercial environment.
Personal Qualities






Ability to work collaboratively at site level with operational, environmental and
managerial staff.
Willing to take the initiative and accept responsibility for relevant works on
site.
Proven success of influencing others at site operational level both internally
and externally.
Sufficiently resilient and robust to effectively manage third parties.
Will contribute to the wider site team in a capacity of adding value to the
decision making process.
Awareness of own safety and how ones actions impact of the safety of others.
Conscientious in the implementation of Health and Safety procedures, policy,
and other requirements.

commercial performance.
Confident to communicate with regulators and other stakeholders, and refer
queries to the relevant responsible person within FCC.
