Role Purpose To carry out and manage all environmental monitoring in an efficient and safe manner in compliance with the company’s duty of care, permit and any other environmental and safety requirements. Page: 1 of 3 To ensure that leachate is managed and controlled in an efficient, safe and cost effective manner in compliance with the Company’s duty of care, permit, environmental and safety requirements. Key Responsibilities • To undertake all environmental monitoring including (but not limited to) gas, water, and leachate, in accordance with an approved work schedule, reflecting the company’s Health and Safety requirements, permit and any other environmental requirements. • Manage all environmental monitoring data, to include the use of MP5 database. Validate laboratory analysis data and liaise with laboratory to ensure effective performance of the contract. • To support the Site Environment Manager with the production of factual environmental reports for the regulator to the requirements and timescales of the site permits. • Ensure breaches of assessment, control and trigger levels are reported to the Site Environment Manager in a timely manner. • Monitor and where necessary maintain environmental control systems (including leachate). • Supervise contractors involved in the installation of environmental infrastructure. • Maintain company equipment ensuring all is calibrated to manufacturer specifications. • Maintain all environmental and leachate infrastructure ensuring it is fit for purpose. • Have input into special projects as required, such as pump tests and site investigations. • Support regional and site staff in the development of remedial strategies based upon issues indicated by monitoring programmes. • Undertake all reporting in accordance with the group standards and permit requirements. • Continually seek improvements to environmental compliance. • Implementation of DSEAR compliance practices. • Awareness of Emergency and other safety procedures. Page: 2 of 3 • Conduct and report site environmental inspections. • Support Regional and Site Environment Manager with any other work. Qualifications and Experience (preferred) • Preferably educated to degree level, but not essential, ideally have a proven track record in an environmental role, although not essential as training will be given. • Comfortable with working outdoors. • Full driving license (company vehicle provided with the role). • Computer literate. • Methodical and analytical, with good communication skills.
