Role Purpose
To assist the Waste Treatment Division (WTD) Commercial Team with the
technical assessment of enquiries, the preparation of transportation

documentation, the collation of data for site records and preparation of data for
invoicing.
Key Tasks
1. To ensure that technical control activities of the sales enquiry process is
carried out and conforms to legal requirements and good practice:

To accurately interpret waste data so as to determine composition
and identify safe handling and disposal requirements and correct
classification;

To gather information from waste producers and customers so as to
make valid judgements on waste composition.
2. To ensure that the assessment of sales enquiries are accurate and timely.
3. To ensure that production of invoicing and other data to monitor sales
progress is accurate and timely.
4. To assist in the management of company vehicles collecting wastes on behalf
of the Waste Treatment Division including liaising with the client, preparing
transport and waste documentation and advising drivers and clients.
5. To manage and ensure that activities with regard the movement of wastes to
other disposal facilities conform to legal requirements, are at costs within
budgeted expenditure and/or as cost effectively as possible and comply with
good practice.
6. To maintain flexible working arrangements in order to maximise operational
efficiency.
7. To maintain punctual timekeeping and regular attendance to achieve
maximum operational efficiency and avoid additional or unnecessary costs.
8. To be fully aware of planning consents and Environmental Permits relating to
Knostrop, Ecclesfield and Blackburn Meadows and ensure they are not
breached by the acceptance of incorrect wastes.
9. To assist the Blackburn Meadows Technical Coordinator and Commercial
Manager and WTD Operations Managers to ensure that Knostrop, Ecclesfield
and Blackburn Meadows are operated in compliance with all relevant

Company and statutory environmental requirements, e.g. discharge consents,
duty of care for disposal of waste, etc.
10. To assist the Technical Coordinator, Commercial Manager and Operations
Managers in the implementation of the Group’s Health and Safety Policy,
SHE Manual and statutory regulations at Knostrop, Ecclesfield and Blackburn
Meadows.
11. To protect the reputation of the Company in the community in which it
operates by adopting demanding standards of care.
Qualifications and Experience (preferred)



Preferably a degree in chemistry but minimum HND Chemistry, or related
subject.
Hazardous Waste treatment industry or chemical industry experience
useful.
Confident with using MS Office suite.
Personal Qualities

Be able to problem-solve using own initiative making use of chemical
hazard and properties information to determine the safe handling and
disposal methods for chemicals.

Be able to work both as part of a small team under supervision and work
alone, including self managing the workload.

Be customer focussed and able to communicate or liaise confidently with
people at all levels.

Have flexible attitude to work to cover peak times.
