THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT ARLINGTON ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL (NON-TEACHING) JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Executive Director for Accounting Services CODE: 0344 FUNCTION: To provide timely and accurate recording, compilation, and reporting of financial data for the University. To oversee and supervise various areas of accounting divisions. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Compile daily, monthly and annual reports. Review and approve accounting entries and reconciliations. Develop and administer policies and procedures relating to financial administration. Monitor and evaluate aspects of financial accounting, DEFINE training and grant accounting functions including internal controls. ACCOUNTABILITY REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS REPORTS TO: Assistant Vice President for Accounting Services SUPERVISES: Number of employees supervised (non-students) 18 Number of students supervised None INTERNAL CONTROL: Responsible for the design, execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that department operations are effective and efficient, department assets are safeguarded, department financial information is reliable, and the department complies with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures. WORKING CONDITIONS: Environmental demands: Exposure to standard office conditions Physical tasks: repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation, climbing of stairs, lifting and moving. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field. At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience which must include work in the supervisory area. Knowledge is needed in the area of governmental accounting principles.
