THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT ARLINGTON ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL (NON-TEACHING) JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Director, Mental Health Services CODE: 0699 FUNCTION: Provide professional skills in the field of psychology involving assessment, diagnosis, intervention, consultation and supervision at Student Health Services. Responsible for evaluating student’s psychological functioning, providing appropriate treatment (individual, couples and group therapy) for a wide variety of mental health concerns, consulting with medical staff, and making referrals to health agencies or other professionals when appropriate. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for long and short term planning, development and implementation of programs of the Mental Health Services to ensure that the mission, goals and objectives of Student Health Services are accomplished. Organize, coordinate, manage and direct the day-to-day operations of Mental Health Services. Develop and administer policies and procedures and consult with administration and medical staff regarding plans, issues, and problems associated with Mental Health Services. Plan, attend and/or represent the University of various committees or functions. Ensure compliance with applicable University policies and local, state and federal requirements. ACCOUNTABILITY REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS REPORTS TO: Chief of Staff, Student Health Services SUPERVISION: Staff Psychologist and graduate level clinical psychology interns from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. INTERNAL CONTROL: Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that department operations are effective and efficient, department assets are safeguarded, department financial information is reliable, and the department complies with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed under usual clinical conditions and requires a high degree of contact with patients, other clinical personnel, and the campus community. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. Degree with major coursework in counseling or clinical psychology, or ABD and working on dissertation. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Two to four years experience in professional clinical work.
