TITLE: Executive Associate
CODE: 0234
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is comparable to office manager in that the executive assistant to the President is
responsible for all office functions. Given that the University does not have a Vice President of
Administration, the Executive Assistant performs some of the duties traditionally assigned to the
Vice President of Administration: Participates in planning. Monitors and evaluates results and
adjusts plans as necessary. Organizes, coordinates, manages and directs the day-to-day operations
of assigned areas. Administers budgets; carries the full range of personnel management
responsibilities for assigned employees’ develops and administers policies and procedures;
advises and consults with administration and management regarding plans, issues and problems
associated with assigned area; plans, attends and/or represents the University in meetings;
maintains effective relationship with external, regulatory and funding bodies as required; ensures
compliance with applicable University policies and local, state and federal requirements.

INTERNAL CONTROL:
Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which
provides reasonable assurance that department operations are effective and efficient, department
assets are safeguarded, department financial information is reliable, and the department complies
with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position required more than 40 hours per week. Unless an undue amount of work was
delegated, it would be very difficult to function in this position without working at least a limited
amount of additional hours.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree; knowledge of State, UT System and UT Arlington procedures. Letter writing
skills; grammar, telephone etiquette; computer knowledge; basic accounting knowledge; ability to
handle multiple takes in sometimes hectic environment; self-starter; ability to communicate
effectively; supervisory skills. Minimum of five years experience at administrative assistant or
above level.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Specific job requirements or physical location of position allocated to this classification render
the position security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code
§51.215.
