THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT ARLINGTON ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL (NON-TEACHING) JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Executive Director for Business Services CODE: 0344 FUNCTION: To provide highly advanced administrative and managerial functions for Business Services including Bursars Services, Net Solutions, and Collections departments. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for salaries and budgeting of all departments in this area. Ensures that the university adheres to university goals and objectives. Provides counsel and advice to the Vice-President regarding university operations. Interacts with students and their parents regarding tuition and collection questions. Final decision on appeal of students. Serves as primary appeal person for business affairs in collections and Bursar's services. Responsible for fee collection, income, and revenue. Approves write-offs and payments to collection agencies. Provides information and advice to state agencies and the general public regarding university activities and responsibilities. ACCOUNTABILITY REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS REPORTS TO: VP for Business Affairs SUPERVISES: Number of employees supervised (non-students) 4 Number of students supervised None INTERNAL CONTROL: Responsible for the design, execution and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that department operations are effective and efficient, department assets are safeguarded, department financial information is reliable, and the department complies with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures. WORKING CONDITIONS: Environmental demands Exposure to standard office conditions Physical tasks Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Business, Human Relations, or related field. 8 years of related experience, including at least 3 years of risk management experience. 5 years of supervisory experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 3 years of University experience. Experience with mediation and customer relations. Strong work ethic, with a results-oriented philosophy and excellent judgment. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
