Director, Bursar Services

FUNCTION:
To ensure that the University's assets are properly recorded and safeguarded according to
University, System, State, and Federal regulations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor and evaluate Bursar operations and processes to provide effective, efficient,
customer oriented services. Develop, administer, and evaluate Bursar policies and
procedures. Advises and consults with administration and management regarding plans,
issues, and problems associated with the Bursar's Office. Participates in and represents
the University in meetings pertaining to credit card processing and reconciliation, Internet
use, customer services and policies and procedures. Maintains effective relationships
with internal and external customers, which includes credit card companies and
processors, faculty, staff, students, and parents. Act as liaison between the University
and the credit card processor. Insure compliance with University, local, state, and federal
cash handling policies.

SUPERVISES: Number of employees supervised (non-students): 1

INTERNAL CONTROL: Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a
system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that department
operations are effective and efficient, department assets are safeguarded, department
financial information is reliable, and the department complies with applicable laws,
regulations, policies, and procedures.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
May require light travel, nights and weekends.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Business, 5 years highly skilled cash management experience in a
high volume industry. Prefer at least 2 years of supervisory or management experience.
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as
appropriate.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Specific job requirements or physical location of some
positions allocated to this classification, may render the position security sensitive, and
thereby subject to the provisions of Section §51.215 Texas Education Code.
