THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT ARLINGTON ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL (NON-TEACHING) JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Assistant Director, Business Services CODE: 0346 FUNCTION: Assists the Director in insuring that the University s assets are properly recorded and safeguarded according to University, System, State, and Federal regulations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists with monitoring and evaluating Bursar operations and processes to provide effective, efficient, customer oriented services. Helps organize, coordinate, manage, and direct the day-to-day duties of the Accounting Technicians, Accounting Clerk III s, parttime and work-study employees. Responsible for managing personnel issues for employees, including PAF s, time cards, and performance reviews. Assists in developing, administering, and evaluating Bursar Office policies and procedures. Participates in and represents the University in meetings pertaining to credit card processing and reconciliation, Internet use, customer services and policies and procedures. Maintains effective relationships with internal and external customers. ACCOUNTABILITY REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS REPORTS TO: Executive Director, Business Services SUPERVISES: Number of employees supervised (non-students): 5 Number of students supervised: None INTERNAL CONTROL: Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that department operations are effective and efficient, department assets are safeguarded, department financial information is reliable, and the department complies with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. WORKING CONDITIONS: Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS: May require light travel, nights and weekends. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in business and 3 years experience. Prefer at least 2 years of supervisory or management experience. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
