ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL (NON-TEACHING) JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Director of Special Projects
CODE: 0602
FUNCTION:
Organize and direct continuing and one-time special events and projects which highlight student
achievement and/or present a positive image of The University of Texas at Arlington to both the
academic community and external publics; to provide administrative support to the Associate
Vice President for Student Affairs; to work with the faculty to strengthen the relationship with the
division of Student Affairs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans special programs and events; supervises productions on site; prepares contracts; monitors
program budgets; supervises ticket sales and money-handling procedures; creates brochures,
reports, correspondence and other written documents; coordinates advertising and promotions;
evaluates results; consults with other University departments who provide program services and
coordinates all program arrangements.
ACCOUNTABILITY:
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
REPORTS TO: The Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and from time-to-time other
University Administrators on individual projects.
INTERNAL CONTROL:
Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which
provides reasonable assurance that department operations are effective and efficient, department
assets are safeguarded, department financial information is reliable, and the department complies
with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Occasional evenings and weekends when required by the timing of the project or event.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree; excellent oral and written communication skills; previous experience in program
planning.
