THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT ARLINGTON ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROFESSIONAL (NON-TEACHING) JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Special Events Center and Auditorium Director CODE: 0345 FUNCTION: To provide the necessary administration, management and supervision of the overall operations of the Special Events Center and the Texas Hall Auditorium. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans, develops, directs and controls the comprehensive activities, services and operations of the Special Events Center and Texas Hall. Responsible for planning, booking, scheduling, negotiating, and contracting for events and facilities. May meet with clients to determine their event needs. Plans and administers an annual operating budget for each program. Implements internal controls for monitoring annual budgets, fiscal reporting, rental contracts, billings, systems management, and facilities management services. Protects, maintains and enhances each facility and related assets of each facility in a safe, efficient, and cost effective manner. Responsible for the coordination of maintenance, safety, security, appearance and cleanliness of buildings/grounds. Supervises assigned staff, including but not limited to hiring, training, professional development, discipline and evaluation. Allocates personnel and resources to optimize departmental efficiency and effectiveness. Works closely with administrators, institutions, facilities management and faculty to accommodate and facilitate their programmatic needs. ACCOUNTABILITY REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS REPORTS TO: VP Finance and Campus Operations SUPERVISES: Supervises assigned staff, including but not limited to hiring, training, professional development, discipline and evaluation. INTERNAL CONTROL: Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that department operations are effective and efficient, department assets are safeguarded, department financial information is reliable, and the department complies with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. WORKING CONDITIONS: Environmental demands: Exposure to standard office conditions. Physical tasks: Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation; Security Sensitive; criminal background check conducted . Additional Working Conditions: Position may require extended hours (daily), work on weekends (on occasion), occasional travel to Austin or other cities for meetings and/or for training sessions, workshops, etc. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree. Minimum of 10 years related experience, including 5 years at a Director level or higher of a large department demonstrating progressive management responsibilities and duties. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's Degree in a related field. Experience in promoting, marketing and managing Arenas and/or Special Events Centers.
