Computer User Services Specialist I Purpose Purpose: To advise and provide consultation to computer users on various skill levels regarding the effective use of computer resources. Responsible for providing routine information to faculty, staff, students, and various other groups regarding computers and their usage. Essential Functions Function 1: Ordering, installation, and testing of hardware and software 50 % Time Function 2: Provide faculty, staff and students with computer services, various software and technological resources as well troubleshooting issued with the same. 25 % Time Function 3: Tracking and maintaining inventory of software and hardware assigned to faculty, staff, and student areas., including Smart Hospital 15 % Time Function 4: Back-up person for 5 computer labs within Nursing department 5 % Time Function 5: Other duties as assigned 5 % Time Marginal/Incidental Functions Marginal/Incidental Functions: Other related functions as assigned. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Three years of course work (including at least two programming courses) towards degree in computer-related field. Two years of practical work experience in a computer related field. Knowledge of and/or experience with a wide variety of computer hardware including mainframe and microcomputer systems. Accuracy is required in application of programming techniques. Specific job requirements or physical location of some positions allocated to this classification, may render the position security sensitive, and thereby subject to the provisions of Section 51.215 Texas Education Code. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with Microsoft Office.
