Job Title (code): IT Manager IV (9815) Purpose Purpose: Persons in the IT Manager IV classification manage other technical staff that perform programming tasks or install, maintain, and trouble-shoot desktop, server, applications, or communications_voice communications equipment and software. They work with a great deal of independence in the performance of their duties, w Essential Functions Function 1: Hires, trains, mentors, and supervises IT System Managers personnel. 20 % Time Function 2: Provide leadership in the service design phase of provisioning support for new or upgraded software applications. 20 % Time Function 3: Provide leadership in the service transition phase of establishing a new or upgrading a software application into the University environment. 10 % Time Function 4: Manage all technical support personnel in the operation phase of application support. 20 % Time Function 5: Manage the development of training for applications unique to the UTA environment. 10 % Time Function 6: Provide interface between other department groups and the user community. 10 % Time Function 7: Assigns staff projects and tasks and formulates group policies and procedures. 5 % Time Function 8: Provide management of Service Level management related to providing application support services. 5 % Time Marginal/Incidental Functions Marginal/Incidental Functions: Other related functions as assigned. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor?s Degree in related field and ten years of related computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Six years of supervisory experience. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required: Prior experience with specific systems, equipment and software may be specified as needed by department. Considerable knowledge of principles of computing and/or communications networks, and characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed environments. Ability to supervise and train subordinates. Strong understanding of project management disciplines. Ability to provide scope and prioritization on work assignments, paying strong attention to detail and deadlines. Ability to assimilate, retain, and utilize technical and applications-oriented information. Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field or 15+ years related experience. Experience with SharePoint, project management methodologies, and ITIL methodologies. Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel). Familiar with relational database concepts and client-server concepts. Experience with project management tools such as Excel or SharePoint tool, MS Project, Innotas or other solution. Certifications in supported technologies. Excellent organization, teamwork, problem-solving, and communication (verbal and written) skills. Ability to work well with people in all levels of the organization.
