Job Title (code): IT Manager II (9813) Purpose Purpose: Persons in the IT Manager II classification manage other technical staff that perform programming tasks or install, maintain, and trouble-shoot desktop, server, applications, or communications/voice communications equipment and software. They work under the general supervision of a manager in the performance of their d Essential Functions Function 1: Provide detailed reports to clients on project plans, barriers, solutions, milestones, financial costs/projections and analysis. Manage assigned projects. Develop, direct, and evaluate assigned projects. 50 % Time Function 2: Communicate with clients, project team members and other stake holders. Keep clients informed of progress against plans. 20 % Time Function 3: Manage project implementation and schedule control. Ensure that tasks are completed within established deadlines and budgets. 15 % Time Function 4: Develop project management process improvements. Streamline business processes. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in related field and five years of related computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Two years of supervisory experience. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required: Prior experience with specific systems, equipment and software may be specified as needed by department. Considerable knowledge of principles of computing and/or communications networks, and characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed environments. Ability to supervise and train subordinates. Strong understanding of project management disciplines. Ability to provide scope and prioritization on work assignments, paying strong attention to detail and deadlines. Ability to assimilate, retain, and utilize technical and applications-oriented information. Preferred Qualifications: Extensive knowledge of project management practices and subject matter of the project. Strong MS Project (or equivalent tool) skills. Excellent organization, teamwork, problem-solving, and all levels of the organization. Good presentation skills. Ability to work well with people in consulting and management skills. Strong understanding of all phases of the application development lifecycle. Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel). Masters degree in Computer Science or related field. Certification as project manager by recognized authority, such as Project Management Institute (i.e., PMI). Other certifications in supported technologies. Higher Education experience.
