POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Advertising Media Coordinator Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Professional Support C JOB SUMMARY: Provide support in the coordination of activities related to the purchasing of media space and time for advertisements. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Responsible for negotiating, scheduling, and buying appropriate media. Research, analyze and maintain record of trends, innovations, and changes that affect media buying. YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 25% 2. Work closely with Director to implement media plan. Responsible for research and development of media plans, identifying target audience, and ideal media outlets. Recommend media mix and frequency as appropriate to budget and objectives. 20% 3. Monitor media agreements and contracts with outside media vendors. 15% 4. Meet with media and department representatives to research available options for media service request. 15% 5. Assist the Director in developing and conducting marketing related presentations. 10% 6. Assist in a variety of tasks to include monitoring of expenditures, verifying charges, and resolving issues; prepare and process check requests, purchase requisitions, budget transfers, and journal entries. 10% 7. EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years related experience in the field. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides work direction to assigned staff. SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Skills/Abilities: • Must have strong planning, organization and problem solving skills. • Should be able to multi-task and be detail oriented. • Good computer skills. • Good interpersonal skills to interface with general public, faculty and staff. • Effective communication skills, both oral and written. Have the ability to articulate clearly. • Basic knowledge of accounting principles. 2. Equipment Used: Personal Computer and other equipment associated with an office environment. 3. Software Used: A variety of spreadsheet, word-processing, database, e-mail, and presentation software.
