JOB SUMMARY: Serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet with executive responsibility for the
planning, management and evaluation of information systems that support the accomplishment of the
District’s Mission, Vision, Core Values and the continuation of the District’s accreditation status.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Provide leadership in the selection, design, implementation and integration of

information systems throughout the District.

Oversee, evaluate and implement new applications and changes to existing
computer systems and software packages.

Facilitate communication regarding technology issues throughout the campuses
and District.

Develop and disseminate policies, standards, and procedures related to
information technology.

Responsible for developing, maintaining and implementing a strategic plan for
information technology.

6.
Function as a liaison between IT and the District/College user community to
coordinate voice-video-data services on the District’s Wide Area Network/Local
Area Networks with particular attention to matters related to district-wide services
including the coordination of LAN/WAN and internet operational issues.

7.
Represent the President at state and national meetings dealing with technology
issues.

Serve on state and regional technology committees.

9.
Provide regular status reports to the Board of Trustees and the District and College
communities concerning IT Project implementation, policies and operations.

10. Identify new information technologies to be introduced to the District.

11. Perform all other related duties as assigned by the President.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in a directly related field required. Doctorate strongly
preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Twelve (12) years increasingly responsible experience in a leadership position in
higher education with increased administrative experience in an academic setting.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 Comprehensive knowledge of community college administration.
 Ability to development and maintain effective strategies for information systems and
services.
 Ability to monitor major projects with broad institutional impact.
 Ability to manage major software and hardware systems procurement.
 Ability to develop and manage departmental budgets.
 Ability to work independently without close supervision.

Equipment Used: Personal Computer and other equipment associated with a general office
environment (copier, phone, fax, etc.)

Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and
presentation software.
