POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: EXTENDED TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Director Director, Testing Services Exempt CATEGORY: Administrative GRADE: C JOB SUMMARY: Develop, implement, administer, and evaluate the District’s testing services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 30% 1. Direct, develop, implement, and administer the District’s comprehensive testing services which include GED testing, instructor services, placement testing, state mandated and national testing programs, and computerized testing programs. 2. Develop, recommend, establish and monitor internal operational standards, policies and procedures to ensure test security of all testing instruments and compliance with local, state, and federal test regulations; management record keeping activities for all components to insure integrity and accountability of testing centers; prepare necessary reports for the district, fund sponsors, and state/federal agencies as required. 25% 3. Responsible for the strategic planning and operational management of the department. Research, plan, recommend, and implement departmental budget. Manage personnel assigned to Testing Services. Review and recommend policies and procedures in adherence with federal and state law, through the appropriate decision ranking channels. 20% 4. Review new test instruments to determine applicability and use within the District; consult with college faculty and instructional deans regarding piloting new test instruments and setting of course recommendation cut scores; provide consultation to faculty, other district departments, and community agencies regarding special testing accommodations, problems, customer and student requests or complaints. 10% 5. Responsible for GED Testing Services, ensure test security, record keeping and compliance with GED Testing Services (Washington, DC) and Texas Education Agency (TEA) regulations. Serve as Test Center Director for THEA testing activities. 5% 6. Develop and disseminate Testing Services information within the District and community; develop and maintain professional liaison relationships with testing companies and state and federal testing agencies. 5% 7. Skills/Abilities: Must have the skill and ability to plan, organize, lead, and control personnel and operations of a large department; Effective communication and problem solving skills in a variety of circumstances. 2. Equipment Used: Personal Computer and other equipment associated with a general office environment (copier, telephone, fax, etc.) 3. Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and presentation software.
