POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: FLSA STATUS: Supervisor, Public Services Non-Exempt CATEGORY: GRADE: Classified F JOB SUMMARY: Supervise the circulation and periodicals desk activities associated with the Library. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: YEARLY PERCENT OF TIME 45% 1. Supervise the daily activities of the Library’s circulation and periodical desk; schedule and assign work; monitor quality of services and provide guidance and supervision of assigned staff. 2. Provide personnel management and direction of assigned personnel, including orientation, training, performance appraisal, coaching and professional development. 10% 3. Retrieve and compile data; prepare and submit reports and/or communications; process a variety of related library documents. 10% 4. Receive, process, and distribute library materials and equipment. Schedule maintenance and service for equipment and the automated library system, as appropriate. 10% 5. Report and track campus library fines and lost material charges. Resolve issues relating to delinquent library accounts with students, faculty, staff and general public. 10% 6. Coordinate security and maintenance of the library. Ensure policies and procedures are followed and enforced during evening and weekend shifts. Take calls, route and respond to questions and provide general information regarding the library’s support services. 10% 7. Skills/Abilities: Good organizational skills, effective communication skills orally and written. Ability to work on multi-tasks simultaneously. General knowledge of library functions. Must be familiar with a Library’s automated system. 2. Equipment Used: Personal Computer, fax, telephone, copier, and other equipment associated with an office environment. 3. Software Used: A variety of word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail, and presentation software.
