In the days before the flight, the mother of an 11-year-old boy who was on the plane says he’d been agitated and asked her questions about death. Samira Calehr said her son Miguel was normally cheerful, but the night before the flight, he embraced her and refused to let go. Just before going through customs, Miguel hugged her goodbye and walked toward passport control, but then ran back, threw his arms around her and said, "Mama, I'm going to miss you. Duff is a Southwest Airlines frequent flier and the perks include being able to be among the first to board the flights. However, as he and his kids were about to board a flight in Denver, the gate agent told Duff that his children couldn’t board with him. He says it was never a problem before, but they waited and he asked for the gate agent’s last name. Duff says she told him: ‘You don’t need my last name for anything,’ and he responded, ‘Real nice way to treat an A-list member.’ They later boarded the plane and Duff tweeted something like, ‘Wow, rudest agent in Denver. Kimberly S, gate C39, not happy @SWA.’ Before he knew it, Duff heard his name over the plane’s loud speaker saying he needed to disembark. The same gate agent told him he was a safety threat and that he needed to delete his tweet or else she’d call the police. Duff says his kids were crying and the agent watched as he deleted the tweet and was then allowed to re-board the plane.
