GRAND KNIGHTS MESSAGE
Hello Brothers,
I thought by now I could write something
about the trees leafing out, the flowers blooming,
baby ducks on the lake, etc. but I guess we have to do
penance for what we had a year ago. At least the one
nice weekend we have had thus far happened to be
Tootsie Roll weekend, which I believe we deserved
after the last couple years. Thanks to all who
volunteered at all our locations handing out tootsie
rolls and raising money for such great causes. I
would also like to thank all those brother knights that
helped with the Spring Booya, it was another
successful event as we sold out by noon.
I would like to welcome 4 new members who
joined at our most recent major degree program:
Chris Giles, Tom Becker, Doug Foster and Kong
Lambiv.
Now that the fraternal year is winding down
we have only 1 more event on our schedule, on May
23rd we will gather at Gulden’s on highway 61 for the
Past Grand Knights dinner. We will have a nice
dinner, some great fellowship, review the past year
and possibly give out some awards. It is our one
event during the year where we can just sit back and
relax, enjoy each other’s company and not have to
work. I encourage all brother knights and their
spouses to attend.

INSURANCE CORNER
WILL YOU LEAVE BEHIND A BURDEN OR A LEGACY?
Each of us will leave something behind when God calls us home,
namely our legacy. How will our children and our grandchildren
remember us? Will we be remembered as being a burden or for our
careful planning and generosity? In my briefcase I carry a letter I
received many years ago from a widow who wrote asking what the
Knights of Columbus could do to help her financially, as her husband
had used up all their retirement money in a nursing home.
Unfortunately, they had no long term care insurance and she and her
children paid a high price, both emotionally and financially.
I also carry a letter from a brother Knight who appreciated my
assistance in making sure he and his wife were financially secure in
their senior years. I helped make sure they could afford to grow old
together without being a burden to each other, while leaving a legacy
for their children.
To protect their assets from spend down, I recommended a solid long
term care insurance strategy helps them to avoid becoming a burden to
each other and their children, and allows them to live their senior years
in dignity and comfort.
I then showed them how they can utilize a single premium whole life
policy to leave behind a solid legacy that will benefit their children and
grandchildren. This policy provides a leveraged tax free gift to their
loved ones, while guaranteeing the growth of their single deposit at a
competitive rate of return. They really liked the fact that they still have
access to their cash deposit for their own future needs if desired.
Each of us has a choice as to whether we will leave a burden or a
legacy for those we love. Please do yourself and your family a favor
and invite me into your home to show you how the Knights of
Columbus can help. You have nothing to lose but a little of your time,
and as always you will never be pressured to buy anything. I promise.

MEMBERSHIP
We are always looking for good men to join our ranks. We have
had a good year thanks for all your hard work. We initiated 4
new members at the major degrees and had some brothers’
advance. Ask a friend to join you will be glad you did.
Thank You Volunteers
The Spring Booya was another great success thanks to Scott
Franzmeier and Paul Otte and all the help they had. The major
Degrees also went very smooth and we initiated 43 men from
several councils and districts Thank you to Terry Thelen and
myself for organizing the event and again we could not have
done it without all of the help and support of a large number of
our brothers helping out. The Tootsie roll drive was also a great
success Dan Cylkowski did a great job of organizing it. The
tootsie Roll drive requires more man hours than any of our other
projects thanks to everyone that participated
