Space Committee Meeting MINUTES July 3, 2012 Members Present: Shari Shuman, Pierre Allaire, Newton Jackson, Lisa Jackson Scott Hochwald Support Staff Present: Zak Ovadia, Mike Naughton, Dan Endicott, John Hale, Everett Malcolm, Lance Taylor, Mike McGuire, Mary Mory 1. Project Timelines 2. Student Wellness Complex - The equipment is in. The landscaping and the punch list are completed. The furniture will be in next week. - A full certificate of occupancy will be issued once the turn-styles are installed in about 2 weeks. - The current fitness center will be closed on July 7 and the soft opening of the new facility is scheduled for August 17. The dedication ceremony is set for October 17. 3. Dining Facility - This project is moving along well. - Completion is scheduled for August, 2012. - The top two floors will be completed in September 2012. 4. NE Connector Road/Lot 34 - Deficiencies found in Lot 34 drainage are currently being corrected. - Drainage issues at the baseball field are currently being addressed - Lot 34 will be available for use on Monday. - Access to Parking Lot 34 will only be available via Lot 18 over the next few weeks in order to realign the road. - The road should be completed by the end of July. 5. Housing Maintenance Building - The furniture has been delivered and the project is complete. - Occupants are moving in. 6. Housing/Clubhouse/C-Store - The first meeting addressed elevations and priority/secondary spaces needed. - A second meeting is scheduled for July 12. - Construction is currently slated for March 2013. 7. Buildings 3, 4 and 50 - A revised space allocation has been issued to Dean Hetrick. - Minor renovations are being addressed. - Mathematics will be able to move at the end of July. 8. Expansion of Golfplex to Accommodate Women’s Locker/Lounge Area - Bids came in higher than expected. The client has been informed and will determine how best to proceed. 9. Religious Centers - JBC is currently looking at the feasibility and cost of running utilities to the religious centers and sanctuary site. This report should be in by the end of next week. - A diagram will be shared at the next meeting. 10. Greek Housing - The president has endorsed the recommendation to hire Treanor Architects. A kick-off meeting will be scheduled to discuss programming including the scope of services and fee structure. 11. ROTC Storage Needs - The ROTC will not be able to utilize part of the Housing Maintenance building for their storage needs. Other solutions will be explored. 12. Parent and Family Program - Theresa Price, Director of Major Events, may move to Student Affairs. If this happens, the Parent and Family Program will move out of their current space on the first floor of the Student Union administration building and into a space in Building 9. The program will need 5 spaces plus an office for a parent volunteer space. The Student Life and Service program would move into the vacated spaces on the first floor of the Student Union.
