Space Committee Meeting Minutes June 6, 2012 Members in Attendance: Support Staff in Attendance: Shari Shuman, Mauricio Gonzalez, Pierre Allaire, Scott Hochwald, Newton Jackson Zak Ovadia, Everett Malcolm, Dan Endicott, John Hale, Deb Kaye, Mike McGuire, Mike Naughton 1. Project Timelines - Science & Engineering Building Remedial Work This project is complete and landscaping is finished. 2. Student Wellness Complex - The first floor is at substantial completion. - A walk through of the outside of the building resulted in a few issues. - Furniture and equipment will begin arriving on July 1. 3. Dining Facility - Scheduled to open in August. Kitchen equipment is being installed. 4. NE Connector Road/Lot 34 - A number of drainage issues have been identified in the parking lot and around the baseball field. Improvements are scheduled to begin on Monday. 5. Housing Maintenance Building - The project is substantially complete. Landscaping and striping of the parking lot are under way. - Occupancy is scheduled mid to late June after the furniture is delivered. 6. Housing/Clubhouse/C-Store - Baker Barrios has been engaged. A meeting is scheduled for June 13. 7. Buildings 3, 4 and 50 - A consultant has been hired and has submitted a report evaluating the air system in Building 4. There are concerns with using chemicals in the labs. A meeting with all potential occupants will be set up to review the report. 8. Expansion of Golfplex to Accommodate Women’s Locker/Lounge Area - The construction drawings are out for bidding and due next week. - Due to lack of funding, project may be phased. Religious Centers - A consultant has been hired to do an analysis of the cost of utilities for both the religious centers and the sanctuary. Two layouts for the religious centers have been provided. A meeting is scheduled for later this month to discuss the options. 9. 10. Greek Housing - Three firms have been interviewed for a feasibility study. Reviewing possibilities of requesting additional information from the firms. 11. ROTC Storage Needs - The ROTC equipment has been moved out of the old print shop and is temporarily being stored in the former OCT space. A long term storage solution is needed. An airconditioned space is needed. Mauricio Gonzalez to see if the new Housing Maintenance Building has space. 12. Vineyard/Orchard and Garden for Northern Property - Becky Purser was in attendance to request space in the northern property to move and expand the organic garden which is currently near the Parking Services building. This project will be linked to the Brooks College of Health and Chartwells. If approved, the current garden would be moved by the end of July. - The proposal was approved - Irrigation available – need to maintain easement. Completed Projects 1. 2.
