Announcements
Dr. Lupi announced that Dr. Janice Seabrooks-Blackmore will assume the Interim Coordinator for the doctoral program
for the year beginning July 15. Dr. Seabrooks-Blackmore will continue to teach within her own department. An external
search will be forthcoming to assume this position.
Searches – The search will continue for the CELT Chair position. Dr. Lupi received approval to search for the LSCSM
position to replace Dr. Godwyll’s line, we continue to wait for approval to search for Dr. Candice Carter’s line. Dr. Lupi
anticipates a better understanding of search approvals by next CLT meeting.
Travis Pickney, a graduate from two of our programs, Childhood Education and School Counseling, was featured in a
Huffington Post article about the work he is doing with developing the College Readiness Program. Currently he is
working with school districts in North Carolina and starting to do work with North Florida; he should be working with
DCPS soon. Travis is a complete product of COEHS.
Dr. Lupi announced that Nicole Pece will be our new Director of Development. Nicole is an internal person with a good
history of development work and a background in education.
Dr. Janson introduced a conversation he thinks COEHS should have regarding department and program strategies in
student recruitment. Dr. Janson is interested in convening meetings/conversations with COEHS department
representatives.
Dr. Venn attended the FCTE Test Prep Workshop at the University of Central Florida; he has the power points and link to
the website which he will share with the leadership team. UCF, College of Education provides free face to face testing
workshops which includes test taking skills which would be beneficial to our students. Dr. Venn will work with Dr.
Possinger to identify an action plan to find the best resources to put on the COEHS website. They will update us at the
first CLT meeting in August.
Professional Development and Part Time Faculty – MHL
Dr. Lupi reinforced that it is policy that professional development money is for tenure earning or tenured faculty.
The group discussed other funding sources to support permanent instructors to attend professional conferences.
Professional Development money posts in September.
Open House, October 3rd – MHL
Career Cluster Focus is the new way of doing the Open House. COEHS and CCB, with a merge on sport management,
open house will be on October 3rd. One representative per department – Dr. Kane will coordinate this event.
Banking Policy – MHL
Dr. Lupi passed out a draft of the university banking policy. This is an FYI for discussion. The doctoral program will need
to have additional conversation on how they want to distribute some of these points given the program is having a
methodologist and committee chair. This needs doctoral steering committee discussion when the steering committee
starts up again in the fall. Dr. Lupi would like the leadership team to write down their thoughts; Dr. Cornett and Dr.
Janson will put something together.
Summer Enrollment/Fall Enrollment - JPK
Dr. Kemppainen updated the leadership team on enrollments for summer and fall semester.
BOG Threshold/low enrolled programs – corrective actions – MHL
Corrective actions should be the COEHS motto this year. We need to develop actions on how we will be addressing low
enrolled programs.
Dr. Possinger needs to record the initiatives and the innovations, please allow her to take notes.
We will look into developing the teacher education council.
Meeting adjourned at 11:00
