College Leadership Team June 17, 2015 Present – Jeff Cornett, Dan Dinsmore, Chris Janson, John Kemppainen, Marsha Lupi, Cathy O’Farrell, Karen Patterson, Megan Possinger, Linda Sciarratta, John Venn Call to order – The meeting was called to order at 9:35 a.m. Minutes- The May 20th minutes were approved. Announcements Dr. Lupi announced that Dr. Janice Seabrooks-Blackmore will assume the Interim Coordinator for the doctoral program for the year beginning July 15. Dr. Seabrooks-Blackmore will continue to teach within her own department. An external search will be forthcoming to assume this position. Searches – The search will continue for the CELT Chair position. Dr. Lupi received approval to search for the LSCSM position to replace Dr. Godwyll’s line, we continue to wait for approval to search for Dr. Candice Carter’s line. Dr. Lupi anticipates a better understanding of search approvals by next CLT meeting. Travis Pickney, a graduate from two of our programs, Childhood Education and School Counseling, was featured in a Huffington Post article about the work he is doing with developing the College Readiness Program. Currently he is working with school districts in North Carolina and starting to do work with North Florida; he should be working with DCPS soon. Travis is a complete product of COEHS. Dr. Lupi announced that Nicole Pece will be our new Director of Development. Nicole is an internal person with a good history of development work and a background in education. Dr. Janson introduced a conversation he thinks COEHS should have regarding department and program strategies in student recruitment. Dr. Janson is interested in convening meetings/conversations with COEHS department representatives. Dr. Venn attended the FCTE Test Prep Workshop at the University of Central Florida; he has the power points and link to the website which he will share with the leadership team. UCF, College of Education provides free face to face testing workshops which includes test taking skills which would be beneficial to our students. Dr. Venn will work with Dr. Possinger to identify an action plan to find the best resources to put on the COEHS website. They will update us at the first CLT meeting in August. Professional Development and Part Time Faculty – MHL Dr. Lupi reinforced that it is policy that professional development money is for tenure earning or tenured faculty. The group discussed other funding sources to support permanent instructors to attend professional conferences. Professional Development money posts in September. Open House, October 3rd – MHL Career Cluster Focus is the new way of doing the Open House. COEHS and CCB, with a merge on sport management, open house will be on October 3rd. One representative per department – Dr. Kane will coordinate this event. Banking Policy – MHL Dr. Lupi passed out a draft of the university banking policy. This is an FYI for discussion. The doctoral program will need to have additional conversation on how they want to distribute some of these points given the program is having a methodologist and committee chair. This needs doctoral steering committee discussion when the steering committee starts up again in the fall. Dr. Lupi would like the leadership team to write down their thoughts; Dr. Cornett and Dr. Janson will put something together. Summer Enrollment/Fall Enrollment - JPK Dr. Kemppainen updated the leadership team on enrollments for summer and fall semester. BOG Threshold/low enrolled programs – corrective actions – MHL Corrective actions should be the COEHS motto this year. We need to develop actions on how we will be addressing low enrolled programs. Dr. Possinger needs to record the initiatives and the innovations, please allow her to take notes. We will look into developing the teacher education council. Meeting adjourned at 11:00
